Hector Luis Pacheco Urzua (1960). He works in his Vulcanization Workshop, in the heart of the urban area, providing services to residents and tourists, together with his collaborators.

Héctor Luis, since he was little, was surrounded by tires, tubes and irons, since his father was dedicated to the trade of Vulcanizer (*).

A few years ago -when we learned about the "love for painting and art"- and when asked a question, he pointed out: "Since I was a child I was fascinated by nature and, especially, by birds", to immediately remember that -to the 14 years - what could be said was "a before and after". This is how he explained it to us: “My teacher Katia Lillo asked me to draw a dream and, from there, an abstract and colorful painting arose that she loved, and it motivated me to continue painting and take advantage of my artistic sensibility and talent -which she, according to what she told me, saw in me”.

“From there I continued painting in a self-taught way and, at the same time, I decided to follow my father's trade. And in that, I discovered that "in the nails that I took out of each tire, there was a whole story and I decided to use them by making or creating -in my way of understanding- art that has materialized in paintings -apart from painting- made with nails that have caused punctures, discomfort, scribbles; but I give them a meaning more pleasing to the eye.

Indeed, the hard job of vulcanizing has not detracted from his creative streak and, on the contrary, his works and paintings have attracted the attention of those who know his work. He has exhibited in Matucana 100 (M100), in 2014; at the Ross Cultural Center. Congratulations, outstanding, what has served to continue creating…..

(*): His father -Sergio Pacheco Arzola- was one of the first people from Pichile to dedicate himself to the job of vulcanizing and, at the same time, with a Taxi service.

José Ignacio "Surfart" Vargas Celis (1975). is one of the most active painters from Pichile, having studied art and painting at the university. His theme is mainly related to the sea and surfing.

In fact, more than someone knows him as the muralist of the "mermaids", where this species from marine mythology (half fish, half woman) is usually the protagonist in his colorful works that can be seen in different parts of the urban area, such as in pictures in different formats.

He has participated in group and individual exhibitions. And today, along with creating and creating works, he teaches through custom or group painting courses. Although, not infrequently he is absent to be part of a project, where a mural visually becomes the attraction for the public.

Something that does not stop attracting attention in his work is the perfection of the waves. The explanation is simple: in addition, this artist is part of the first generations of local surfers -where his son Nicolás followed him in the waves, being today one of the best in the country- and, therefore, he knows the waves from the outside and inside.

If he wants to know more about his work and/or perhaps dare to paint, easy: Look for him in the "Callejón-Art", located at Dionisio Acevedo N ° 248.
